What changed

Section 10 is broken up: the operative rule is section 11, and the 50-odd clauses become serial numbers in Schedules II to VII by type of person. Schedule II also covers Unified Pension Scheme payments (S.No. 15, 16).

Practice notes

  • Partial integration of agricultural income for rate purposes continues — see the rate provisions, not Schedule II.
  • Leave travel concession, gratuity, commuted pension, leave encashment and HRA moved to Schedule III/section 19 — see the 10(5), 10(10), 10(13A) pages.
  • S.No. 17 is a saving clause for old 10(15) items and 10(36).
